Understanding human decision-making across diverse environments

MABEL — the Magis Behavioral Laboratory — is a new experimental research laboratory based at University MAGIS in Madagascar, developed in cooperation with the Los Angeles Behavioral Economics Laboratory (LABEL)at the University of Southern California and the Jesuit University of Loyola in Córdoba.

MABEL is designed as both a physical and mobile research infrastructure. It includes a laboratory space equipped for controlled behavioral experiments, as well as a portable laboratory that allows researchers to conduct studies in schools, universities, villages, and urban communities across Madagascar. The long-term ambition is to develop MABEL into a regional platform for behavioral, developmental, and social science research in Madagascar and, eventually, in francophone Africa more broadly.
